Four games will be played in Men’s Besta deildin today.
KR – ÍBV at Meistaravellir (17:00).
KR would like to follow up on last game win against KA at their home stadium. That was KR’s first since 29th May. KR is still competing for a place in European competition so a win would be highly appreciated by the fans. ÍBV has only lost one game in last five games and have moved from the relegation zone. IBV will of course try to follow up on their recent form and move further from the relegation zone.
FH – KA at Kaplakriki (17:00).
FH has still not managed to win a game after Eiður Smári took ever as head coach. FH won last game 15th May and are in 10th place, one point ahead of Leiknir R which sits in relegation seat. KA lost against KR at home in last round but KR was lucky to get all three points. KA is a clear contender for a European competition and must get all three points to stay in the race
Fram – Vikingur at Framvöllur (19:15)
Vikingur played last Thursday against Lech in the UEFA Europa League and won impressively 1-0 and will have a difficult match against them in Poland on Thursday. Can the Vikingur team focus on this match against Fram and stay in the title race against Breiðablik. Fram has not lost a game in last four game and if they continue to win at their new stadium they can get in the top half of the league.
Stjarnan – Breiðablik at Samsungvöllur (19:15)
This is one of the most interesting match in this round. Stjarnan is in fourth place competing for European competition next summer. Breiðablik however is currently top of league with 9 points league. If Stjarnan wins we will have more interesting competition for the first place if Vikingur wins their game as well. Breiðablik played last Thursday in the Europa Conference against the Turkish champion and lost 3-1. The 2nd leg is on Thursday in Turkey and you might wonder if they have shifted their focus on the Icelandic league from the European Conference League due to the difficult task ahead if they want to continue to next round in the Europa Conference League.
